I believe the most important thing Americans must do is to secure their economic well-being in an increasingly challenging, complex world. What I have written about all these years is the process of creating wealth, not for any one individual, but for the United States as a whole. Ever since I was a young correspondent witnessing the emergence of China after the country opened in 1979, I’ve believed we have to get more serious about creating wealth. I retain faith in the resiliency of the U.S. economy and the enterprise of American people. If Americans have the right strategies, we can once again create widespread wealth. Come with me on this journey.

Have the Chinese Hacked Nvidia?
If this report from the Center for Security and Emerging Technology, based on a report from the Verge, is true, the Chinese may have taken advantage of the West’s distraction with Ukraine to stage an attack on Nvidia, one of the most sophisticated chip designers in the United States. The company, run by Taiwanese based […]
A brilliant new study on China’s global digital ambitions–it wishes to disrupt liberal democracies.

It did not matter where the companies sold their products or services, where they obtained financing, where they developed or sold technology, or […]
China is complicit in Putin’s invasion of Ukraine
By blaming the United States for creating the problem, China is clearly coming down on Putin’s side in the court of world opinion. Its spokeman is calling the United States “clearly irresponsible and immoral.” This is therefore a decisive moment in U.S.-China relations. Xi Jinping is actively trying to discredit the United States as it […]
The Crisis That U.S. Companies Face in China
The Winter Olympics were merely a snapshot of the dilemma that U.S. companies are facing in China. One very good look at the problem was buried on page B3 on a Saturday of a holiday weekend in the New York Times by Ana Swanson. It deserves wider reading so here’s the link. As I wrote […]
Some very positive news on competing against China, but there is still an 800-pound gorilla in the room
For the first time in a long time, we can say that there are positive signs in the American competitive response to China–not just a superficial trade response, but positive changes in the very structure of American and allied industry. Intel, Samsung and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company all have announced major chip plants in Ohio, […]
