I believe the most important thing Americans must do is to secure their economic well-being in an increasingly challenging, complex world. What I have written about all these years is the process of creating wealth, not for any one individual, but for the United States as a whole. Ever since I was a young correspondent witnessing the emergence of China after the country opened in 1979, I’ve believed we have to get more serious about creating wealth. I retain faith in the resiliency of the U.S. economy and the enterprise of American people. If Americans have the right strategies, we can once again create widespread wealth. Come with me on this journey.

American CEOs Must Rethink “Globalization”
I have been involved in this grand debate since driving to Midland, Michigan in the mid-1970s to interview Dow Chemical CEO Carl Gerstacker, who argued that he wanted to buy an island not governed by any nation-state to domicile his company. We have known that Huawei’s 5G wireless communications […]

For generations, American chief executive officers and other top managers have believed that it was their job to create global platforms that would maximize their short-term profits and hence their share price. It did not matter where the companies sold their products or services, where they obtained financing, where they developed or sold technology, or […]
China is complicit in Putin’s invasion of Ukraine
By blaming the United States for creating the problem, China is clearly coming down on Putin’s side in the court of world opinion. Its spokeman is calling the United States “clearly irresponsible and immoral.” This is therefore a decisive moment in U.S.-China relations. Xi Jinping is actively trying to discredit the United States as it […]
FBI’s Christopher Wray Says China Has Compromised The Networks of More Than 10,000 American Companies
We knew that the Chinese assault on Microsoft’s Exchange email system last year was bad, but we did not know it was this bad–the FBI’s Christopher Wray says in a speech that more than 10,000 American companies had their networks compromised. At the time, Microsoft said one of its “partners” in China had leaked the […]
