I believe the most important thing Americans must do is to secure their economic well-being in an increasingly challenging, complex world. What I have written about all these years is the process of creating wealth, not for any one individual, but for the United States as a whole. Ever since I was a young correspondent witnessing the emergence of China after the country opened in 1979, I’ve believed we have to get more serious about creating wealth. I retain faith in the resiliency of the U.S. economy and the enterprise of American people. If Americans have the right strategies, we can once again create widespread wealth. Come with me on this journey.

Charting a U.S. Strategy on Semiconductors
I am pleased that Force Distance Times, a new website dedicated to reviving American manufacturing, has chosen to publish this piece, as pasted in below. The online link is here. American-Designed Semiconductors Used in AI are Being Sold to China’s PLA
This outstanding report from the Center for Security and Emerging Technologies at Georgetown University documents, in incredible detail, how China’s People’s Liberation Army is obtaining American-designed semiconductors to use in its weapons programs, specifically in its efforts to harness Artificial Intelligence. It’s widely assumed that AI will be critical in any confrontation between the United […]

That means […]
A great map showing Chinese hacks against American targets
The evidence is mounting that the Chinese government has thoroughly penetrated American telecommunications and computing systems. The National Security Agency has compiled this mapĀ of 700 targets, as obtained by NBC News. What are the Chinese doing with all the data they are stealing and all the system penetrations they have achieved. As Mike McLaughlin and […]
A fascinating test case of China’s power in Washington
The two houses of Congress are locked in a struggle over a large bill that would pump $52 billion into the American semiconductor industry, giving it a lift at a time when China is striving mightily to catch up. The bill would presumably postpone the day when China could achieve anything approaching parity. It currently […]
Could the Fed be making a terrible mistake?
I don’t normally comment about the Federal Reserve but it is contemplating a .50 percent increase in interest rates on Wednesday. It is doing this in response to the market’s view, and economists’ view, that the Fed must raise interest rates to counter inflation, which has reared its ugly head. But we have to ask […]
