Two Key China-Related Events Tomorrow

Please take a look at two online events coming up tomorrow, April 23, including a 10:30 a.m. Foreign Press Association discussion with Martin Lee, founder of the Hong Kong Democratic Party, and a 6:00 p.m. book night with OPC member Tiff Roberts about “The Myth of Chinese Capitalism.”

China is using COVID-19 to crackdown on the Hong Kong democracy fighters movement within Hong Kong. Martin Lee, founder of the Hong Kong Democratic Party, has been arrested and at the age of 82 faces imprisonment by PRC surrogates in the “Special Administrative Region.”
FPA President Ian Williams will interview Mr. Lee by Zoom in Hong Kong.
Martin Lee is the founder of the Hong Kong Democratic Party and served as an elected member of the Legislative Council for more than two decades. He was a member of the Drafting Committee of the Basic Law Hong Kong’s constitution), was chairman of the Bar, and is known as the “Father of Democracy” in Hong Kong for his tireless defense of freedom, human rights and the rule of law in Hong Kong over the last four decades. Mr. Lee wrote about his arrest in an op ed in The Washington Post on April 21.
