There is a very important article in today’s New York Times, seen here: The U.S. government is debating how to keep advanced technology out of the Chinese government’s hands, particularly if it might have military uses. But no one can agree. Industry wants to return to business as usual, which is not smart from a national security standpoint.
And no one is talking about the really important issues of defending ourselves against Chinese state-sponsored hacking and espionage. Nor are they truly discussing how we can identify crucial technologies and create government-industry-academia solutions. We need to improve the way we are innovating to maintain crucial advantages, but that does not seem to be on the government’s radar screen. I devote entire chapters to these subjects in my book, The New Art of War: China’s Deep Strategy Inside The United States.”
