Is the U.S. military really just now waking up to the Chinese challenge as this AP article suggests? Xi Jinping has been working on this for years. What the article does not even mention:
–The Chinese have deeply penetrated the Pentagon’s IT systems, stealing details about weapon systems and even uniforms. See my two books, The New Art of War and A Grand Strategy.
–The Chinese grip on global communications through Huawei means they probably could disrupt some U.S. military communications.
–The Chinese are building or taking management control of ports throughout the naval approaches to Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Sending military vessels is merely the next step. China will be able to project military power even into Italy and Greece, where it has port projects.
–The Chinese have built their own satellite system, meaning they do not depend on the GPS system created by the U.S. military, and they put a spacecraft on Mars at the same time we did.
The evidence is just overwhelming that the Chinese are seeking technological and therefore military supremacy. If the Pentagon is just discovering that, it has already lost.
