I am pleased to be moderating a panel discussion on America’s longest war, the one we’ve been fighting in Afghanistan since 2001.
I’ll have three top correspondents–Kathy Gannon of the Associated Press; David Rohde, previously with the New York Times and now with the New Yorker magazine; and Jere van Dyk, who has covered the region for the New York Times, CBS and other top organizations.
All my panelists have paid a steep personal price for their devotion to this story: Kathy was shot and is still undergoing surgeries for her hand and arm and both David and Jere were kidnapped and held for long periods.
It should be a gripping evening. Don’t miss it.
