China-related Interests Trying to Shape American Opinion

In my book, “The New Art of War: China’s Deep Strategy Inside the United States,” seen here, I spend a chapter talking about how China-related interests are trying to establish new opinion platforms in the United States where they can promote views that are broadly sympathetic to those of Beijing. Here’s a perfect new example. The Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business is based in Beijing and is supported by the Li Ka Shing Foundation. Li was one of Hong Kong’s “red billionaires” seen as loyal to Beijing. The China Institute is supported by C.H. Tung foundation money and he also was a red billionaire.

The two organizations are presenting two “experts” who have tremendous stakes in preserving their access to Chinese entities and hence in preserving the status quo. Here’s their presentation. It’s happening on Park Avenue, no less:

What Investors Need To Know About US-China Trade Relationship

Afraid of being caught in the midst of a full-blown trade war? Some reports state that U.S. companies are rethinking investments in China, and Chinese companies are rolling back their involvement in the U.S. as well. Reports that the U.S. and China will hold trade talks has only left more wondering: could this lead to a real truce, or is it merely a signal of cease-fire?

Join Patrick Chovenec, Managing Director, Chief Strategist at Silvercrest Asset Management, and Mary Darby, Chief Representative of CKGSB Americas, for an illuminating conversation about all you need to know about investing in this trade-war turmoil.
