Mike Chinoy has written an oral history of how Western correspondents have covered China called Assignment China. I organized a book night for him at the Overseas Press Club on March 23. Here is the Q&A session where he and I drill in on the situation today. His conclusion is that we have reached a dangerous moment in terms of our ability to understand what is happening in China.
